REQUIRED TOOLS:

  • utility knife
  • blanket
  • soft / non-abrasive gloves
  • 3/4″ open end wrench, box wrench or ratchet and deep 3/4″ socket

RECEIVING YOUR SHIPMENT

  • RECEIPT OF ORDER: Immediately upon receipt of delivery your receiving department needs to inspect your shipment for damage. Take pictures, note and point out any damage of boxes to delivery company driver.

OPEN / UNPACK (Where assembly is required)

  • OPENING BOXES: Lightly pierce the tape so you can open the box. We do not recommend inserting the blade completely through the tape and into the box. You risk scratching the stanchions with the blade.
  • After opening box, you should see the two assembled post sections in bubble wrap, remove the posts from the box and gently set them aside. Preferably on a blanket or something somewhat soft and non-abrasive. Leave the bubble wrap on the posts until assembly has been completed and stanchion is upright.
  • Now you should see two bases. Remove the base covers and gently set aside. Try not to scratch the surfaces.
  • The cast iron bases are shipped in their own box separately. THE CAST IRON BASES ARE HEAVY! Remove one at a time assuring you have a firm grip and set preferably ON A BLANKET on a waist high bench or ON A BLANKET on the floor.

ASSEMBLY

The parts should now be laid out in front of you, preferably on a waist high bench covered with a blanket. The bubble wrap should still be on the post.

  1. Remove the bottom flanged nut with your fingers from end of post. Set the flanged nut, flat washer and serrated washer to the side, leave within reach
  2. set base cover over cast iron base
  3. VERY CAREFULLY insert post stud through the center hole of base cover and base until bottom of post is fully seated. DO NOT SPIN POST ON BASE COVER as it may scratch the base cover.
  4. With one hand on the post, grasp the base with your other hand and lay the stanchion on its side. Hold steady, don’t let it roll around. Thread on the nut and firmly tighten with the wrench or ratchet.
  5. Use two hands or better yet, two people and set your stanchion upright in the floor.
  6. Remove foam sleeve by hand. Do not use a knife.
  7. Take pictures!
